Jan’s hip operation at Concord General Hospital this morning went well and she’s already getting some physiotherapy. She was cheerful – she had a spinal anaesthetic for the op and was feeling only a little pain when I was there.
She had lots of tubes going in and out, of course, including some oxygen and a saline drip. There were also some neat socks with a pump attached.
The surgeon, Dr Bernard Zicat, had been to see her and said all went well (but he would say that, wouldn’t he!) He has a very smart website here, so he must be good.
She’s due to come out on Thursday morning into the care of ME. Full recovery may take three months. I’ll have to hide the gin.
The patient does look surprisingly cheerful. Good attitude, Jan!
Fantastic! Looking good Jan and a spinal is the way to go ?
Don’t hesitate to ask if you need any advice for home, esp with John at the helm ?
Make sure you go home with pain relief (paracetamol and an anti-inflammatory -unless you have a cementless hip(being so young)- plus some “rescue” painkillers. Xx
Jan always wanted to be a hipster. Get well soon 🙂
Well done Jan. You can tell me all the gory details later. xxx
Good to see you looking so cheerful. Hope to hear you are back home soon.

Well done Jan, you look marvelous.
Well done.
Take it easy. Enjoy the attentive staff at home for as long as possible.
