One small step for a woman

Jan’s up and walking on crutches. She’s made good progress. She’s now dressed, sitting in a chair (rather than in bed) and wandering the hospital corridors. There’s a little pain, so she’s still on Endone (oxycodone) to stay comfortable.

They should be sending her home tomorrow with a set of crutches, a shower seat, a pickup stick and a dressing stick. I’ll pick her up, then she’ll be in my gentle caring hands. If she doesn’t behave I can withhold her painkillers!

Bionic woman walks!

Viv and Chris visited her today and Chris took this picture of her making use of her crutches.

At home we still have no internet – so this is via my iphone data linked up to my Mac. Seems to be working ok so far with a good 4g signal here. The Telstra man came to examine the damage. It was raining – so he made it clear “I can’t do any work in the rain”.

The internet cable shares a spot on the power line poles so the Telstra men are not allowed to work on wet poles just in case. Anyway, he said, “This’ll need a bucket truck and a crew to sort out.” So maybe, fingers crossed, we’ll see a bucket truck on Friday.

Jan, it is normal to give up the crutches and being waited on hand n foot after about one year…all the best.
