Had a lovely dip in the sea this morning, just a little bit chilly getting in. Had another dip in the pool later, much warmer. In Holiday mode, not doing much at all except eating, drinking, sunbathing, swimming. Tough, eh!
On the coast for Christmas
Killcare holiday! Fabulous house on top of the hill overlooking Killcare beach with views down across Palm Beach and Whale Beach all the way to Manly. It is a 20 minute walk to the beach or a short car ride. There is a lovely pool here too. Viv and Chris are already here and Mike and Eunice join us tomorrow.
Flying again, with feet on the ground
I managed to get out to the model flying field at Doonside on Sunday – first time for many months. Was a cool day for summer – about 24 degrees, with a bit of cloud, but thankfully not much wind. The big 50cc model went very well, despite my flying skills being a bit rusty. I had forgotten how much fun this is and how exciting it can be. Three flights with a bit of hovering and violent aerobatics for extra fun. Caught up with a couple of model flying mates I hadn’t seen for ages, so that was good too. The wind got stronger and the afternoon was windy and rainy.
Winding up at work
Blogging on the iPad from the train – just going through Strathfield station backwards. The iPad is ok, but my elbow room is a bit restricted on the train making typing a bit difficult.
Last day of work before my holiday! We are off to Killcare on Monday, hurrah!
Last night we had office drinks at the nearby pub. Good fun but didn’t stay there very long. No proper Christmas party this year at Sydney City Council and I missed out on the Lord Mayoral drinks reception because I am a contractor and not a staff member. Second-class citizen! I wasn’t too fussed because it was apparently not very exciting.
I am sitting on a packed Tangara train so I am facing backwards. The older trains and the newer millenium trains have moveable seats so they can always face the direction of travel, but not these Tangaras.
Weather should be ok for the holiday – mid to high 20s and maybe a couple of days with a shower. Sydney had lovely sunshine while Oprah Winfrey (spellcheck kept changing that to windy!) was in town but it has been rainy and cool in the couple of days since she left us. A very powerful woman!
Holidays are coming up!
Today we had to plan for New Year’s Eve. In case you didn’t know, Sydney is the New Year’s Eve Capital of the World! I volunteered to work on NYE as a media helper because if I do, Jan and I can go to the Lord Mayor’s Party. That is apparently very special indeed. It is on the best possible spot, the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House with a fantastic view of the fireworks. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t rain!
We have booked a nice holiday house at Killcare this season so we are looking forward to a break there. It overlooks the beach but it is high up and a short drive (or a very steep walk) to the beach. It does have a very nice pool as well.
